Awana & GKids Update (March 16th, 2020)

As you know, for the next 3 weeks (until April 5th) all schools and activities have been postponed. In order to help mitigate the cleaning and sanitization of the school/church we have also postponed all Awana and Gkids activities at this time.

Parents!

This is the PERFECT opportunity for you to take the spiritual lead in your home - and we are here to help!

The first thing you can do is download the ParentCue app (iOS/Android). You will be able to add your children and their ages into the app and see videos, scripture to memorize, and activities that you and your child can talk through to engage in Christ-centered conversation.

The next thing you can do is join/watch our GKids Facebook page for video uploads that will correspond to the lesson for each week.

Next, based on the age of your children and involvement in Gkids and/or Awana there are various resources included below for quiet time activities and for you to use to point your children to Christ.

GPreKids

Attached below are weekly bible verses for you and your preschooler to study and memorize together, a weekly activity for morning time, drive time, bath time,  and cuddle time, and a great article to encourage you as a parent!

Also attached below are weekly bible studies for your elementary aged child to study scripture, interact with biblical truths, and develop a healthy habit of daily connecting with God. This is something they can do on their own first and come together with you daily or at the end of the week to talk through with them.

Awana

Since there are no make-up days built in to our Awana schedule we are asking you as the parents of an Awana Sparks or T&T clubber to keep them on track for when we return.

So, we ask that you use the Awana book as your child’s devotional time to study passages, answer questions, and finish all activities in the lesson including memorizing the verse (or verses) for that section.

Please record and send a video of your child saying their verse (or verses)! Send it as a text message to 229-254-2527 with your child’s first and last name - and then your first and last name (in case we don’t have your contact information). We will then compile these and sign in our records. If you have any questions about what your child needs to do to complete a part of their book, please send a text to the above and we will gladly help clarify.

Last but not least - if there is anything else that we can do to help you - DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK!

“…love the Lord your God with all your hear, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

Deuteronomy 6:5-9

WHAT IS GKIDS?

The Children’s Ministry at Grace is made up of four groups... GBabies, GPreKids, GKids and GKids presents Awana.

In GKids, we are committed to leading children to know God and grow in their relationship with Jesus.  Because of this, we strive to create an environment where every child can discover what it means to have an unforgettable relationship with God.  So every week we provide engaging truth, we surround our kids with caring leaders, and we make it fun.

In GKids, we know that one of your greatest concerns is the safety and protection of your children.  Because of the nature of the world we live in, we have several security measures in place.  The most obvious of these is our Sunday check-in system.  Every parent is asked to check-in their children at one of our two convenient check-in locations when they arrive each Sunday.  One is in the children’s area, while the other is in the gym.  All children can be picked up at the counter in the children’s area after the service.

In GBabies, your youngest children experience
the love of Jesus in a clean, caring environment;

In GPreKids, your preschoolers discover
the basic stories of God’s word;

In GKids, your elementary kids learn
to have an everyday-relationship with Jesus;

In Awana, your children engage
the truth of the Bible that can sustain their faith for a lifetime.

Family Worship Sunday

On the first Sunday of every month, we have our K - 5th graders stay in the Worship Service with their families.  This is a time for our families to Worship together and a time for our children to see us praising God as a church. It is an AWESOME opportunity for all of our families to worship together!

On Family Worship Sundays, we also add in some kid-specific elements. This could be a song, a scripture reading, or even having one of our kids help illustrate the message on stage!

Why Family Worship Sunday?

In GBabies, your children age 0-2 experience the love of Jesus in a clean, caring environment.  Should you need to keep your child with you during the service, a cry room is located just off the gymnasium, to the right of the stage.  Because this room has been equipped with a speaker, the service can be heard clearly without the concern that your child is being a distraction to others in the service.
