Text: Colossians 4:2-4

Your deepest desires are the ones demonstrated by your daily life and habits.
Think about these questions:
  • How is prayer a priority in my life?
  • Is meditation on Scripture a daily discipline?
  • Are authentic Christian friends (those who honestly speak the Words of Jesus into my life) my inner circle?
  • Are my daydreams and goals centered on God's Kingdom?
  • If I had ___________ I would feel like my life has greater meaning?
The answers to these questions reveal your desires.

You probably wouldn't be reading this email if you didn't, at some level, desire God.  But just like me, you often love God's creation more than the Creator Himself (Romans 1:25).

I want to encourage you to start with a very small step--5 minutes of uninterrupted prayer each morning for 22 straight days.  Make your primary focus Jesus and what He did on the cross for you.

If you already have a quiet time, seek to be more intentional in your prayer time.  Again, if you're like me, often times my prayers are unfocused and vague.  Stay alert, as our text reminded us-- Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving (Colossians 4:2).

Some elements of the gospel to consider with thanksgiving as you pray:
  • God’s adoption of you--a sinner saved by grace! If you are going to delight in communion with God, you must first come to rest in your union with Christ.
  • Christ’s perfect life and obedience to God the Father’s will.
  • Christ’s suffering on the cross.
  • Christ’s resurrection.
  • The giving of the Holy Spirit and His help in weakness.
  • Christ reigning as King.
  • Christ’s intercession on your behalf.
