7 And he preached, saying, “After me comes he who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. 8 I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
John the Baptist Understood His Role:
An Unworthy Disciple
I am excited to spend some months in the Gospel of Mark meditating on the words of Jesus and the way He acted. Rather than being simply an intellectual exercise, we will be intentional at looking at the marks of a true disciple.
John was a true disciple. He knew his life had one primary purpose--announcing the coming of the Messiah, the suffering servant who would save people from their sins.
What is keeping you from living all-in for Jesus?Discipleship is not just a theory, a class, a program, or a time of the week. Similar to a worldview, a process--a new way of living, with new habits and routines--must be produced if we are to live like Jesus as His salt and light in the world.
