Paul's People
Text: Philippians 2:19-30
BIG IDEA: No matter what, I need people to help and encourage me
It's really hard to admit when I need help, especially when it comes to my relationship with Jesus.
There's certainly a balance to be struck in being dependent on people rather than God, but far too often we tip the scales in the direction of individualism which leads to isolation.
I've recently had two people reach out to me for help. What I was most amazed by was their bravery and humbleness to stop struggling in isolation and GET HELP!
In the letter to Philippi, Paul didn't have much choice in whether or not to seek help. He was in prison, in chains, attached to a Roman prison guard!
The interesting thing is Paul didn't reach out for help to just anyone, he went to his A-Team! Timothy had proven his worth and Epaphroditus was by all accounts highly regarded by Paul and the church in Philippi.
As you go through your week, think about the people in your life that you KNOW you can count on. Maybe express your gratitude to them for how they've been helpful to your spiritual growth.
You'll never regret it!
It's all about Jesus,
Jeremy
