Helping each other know & follow Jesus in our home, city, and world.

Join us Sundays @ 10:30 AM

Text: Mark 2:1-12 (ESV)  4 And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him, and when they had made an opening, they let down the bed on which the paralytic lay. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

These four guys really loved their friend, did they not? They would not be put off by the crowd. They even "vandalized" another's property to get him in to see Jesus. They ignored the protests and judgments of those around them for the sake of their friend. Jesus was going to work in the man's life because his friends loved him.

Their faith was bold, persistent, & violent. There was no stopping them. When they came to an obstacle, none of them said, "Well, the door is closed, I guess this isn't the Lord's will."

Those who really want something spiritually go for it! When these four guys tore through the roof, they took the kingdom by violent, determined force. Such faith unleashes God's power!

There is a popular type of "faith" being preached across the world today which ultimately promotes faith in faith or faith in oneself. But "faith" isn't about moving God to do what we think He should do. Violent faith is unselfish, undoubting, and unqualified confidence in God--believing in God's truth and God's power while seeking to do God's will.  God rewards those who seek Him by faith!

Hebrews 11:6 - And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.

When God and His will is our pursuit, God will be glorified! Mark 1:12 - And he rose and immediately picked up his bed and went out before them all, so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this!”
  • Are you seeking God's Kingdom above all else? How so? If so, write down specific examples and pray about areas where you need to grow.
  • Are you trusting God enough to ask other believers for help?  Can you even admit you need help living for Jesus? If not, why?
  • If you can't humble yourself and seek help from the body of Christ, pray about your heart and the reasons why you're unwilling to do so.
