Text: Mark 14:26-31
28 "But after I am raised up, I will go before you to Galilee.”
I love this verse! Jesus gives hope to Peter and the other disciples who, in just a few hours, will scatter and abandon Him.
Jesus predicts that Peter's denial will be particularly humbling and shameful. But Peter is adamant—everyone else may lose faith and fall away, but not him! Even if it means death, he won't deny Jesus!
Peter has no idea how weak he actually is. But it's not the end of the story for Peter! They will have a post-resurrection reunion! Jesus tells them He will triumph over death and be raised from the dead! And Luke adds, "and when you (Peter) have turned again back to Me, you will be critical in leading your brothers" (my translation of Luke 22:32). You see, God is in control! He can bring good out of horrible situations because He is working all things for His glory and the good of His children!
Yes, COVID-19 has us all very concerned. We have no idea how long this will last or what the future holds for us individually, our family, or our nation.
But we know there will be a post-resurrection reunion for all Christians! We know Jesus triumphed over death and the grave so we need not fear the future! We know God has a plan for us as His gospel ambassadors!
