Helping each other know & follow Jesus in our home, city, and world.

Join us Sundays @ 10:30 AM

And Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” And he answered him, “You have said so.” Mark 15:2

Pilate's question pertained to earthly political kingdoms. He wanted to know if Jesus was a threat to stir up the Jews against Rome, so Jesus' reply wasn't very direct. John's gospel records some additional comments made by Jesus. He tells Pilate His kingdom is not of this world. John MacArthur notes, "God's kingdom was no threat to the national identity of Israel or the political and military identity of Rome. It exists in the spiritual dimension until the end of the age" (Revelation 11:15).

Brian Davis writes, "For Christians, the battle isn’t won when a policy is adopted, a president is elected, or an ordinance is passed in any particular territory. Our marching orders are of a higher calling and from a higher rank. All our endeavors and undertakings, each of our personal pursuits, the whole trajectory of our dealings in this world—all of it must be tethered to our King’s edict which is exclusively found in God’s Word." Davis' entire article is excellent and worth reading!

If we are going to live for the Kingdom which is not of this world we must be in constant Word-saturated prayer. We pray, "Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." This prayer is for God to convert the hearts of His enemies, bringing them to confess Jesus as King. We are praying for the coming of the day when all evil, all sin, and all rebellion against God is finally eradicated. And we are praying for ourselves, that we would obey our King and live for His glory!
