Knowing God's Heart
...who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:4
In the Ephesian church, there had developed certain theology that said not all people could be saved. There’s no reason to pray for all people; there was perhaps no reason to even share the gospel with all people. Paul tells Pastor Timothy he needs to work to correct this wrong thinking because God desires ALL people to be saved!
Prayer is about desire; we ask for what we want. Do your prayers reflect the desires of God's heart or of your flesh? Knowing God, having a real and personal relationship with Him is about knowing His heart. If you don't know God's heart, you won't have any real and lasting motivation to give your life for the salvation of others.
Remix your prayers! Think about what you're saying and asking of God. Don't just recite the same canned prayer before every meal or after every time of Bible reading.
If you're willing to do this--praying prayers that reflect the desires of God's heart, not only will God begin to change you, but He will impact those who listen to your prayers. God-centered, gospel-driven prayers will impact your children and grandchildren. Your spouse will see that something has changed, that your "religion" is more than superficial formality but you are truly moving closer to the heart of God!
