Love Reconciles
All this is from God... 2 Corinthians 5:18
Text: 2 Corinthians 5:16-21
Charles Spurgeon said, “All the gifts of sovereign grace are intended to give us joy.” Is there any more fantastic gift than our reconciliation with God?
- God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).
- For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).
- Even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will (Ephesians 1:4-5).
It is truly humbling and breathtaking that God has reconciled anyone to Himself! Our sins deserve eternal punishment. Why? Creator God is holy, holy, holy! Sin is an affront to the holiness of God. BUT the imputed righteousness of Christ has recreated us as holy and blameless new creations! God is now for us and not against us because of Christ and Christ alone!
Celebrate these magnificent truths today, and go tell someone that in Christ, God is reconciling people to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them! Who wouldn't want to accept this gift!? And even if they reject it, don't take it personally. You have just offered them a gift beyond comprehension. Pray that their eyes will be opened and they will receive it.
