Jesus Divides
The Pharisees answered them, “Have you also been deceived?
Text: John 7:47-52
For it isn't you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you (John 14:26).
The Holy Spirit reminds you. As Roy said yesterday, you have to know something to be reminded of it.
So what can we do to remember what Jesus said?
We must immerse ourselves in the Word of God until it becomes a part of us. "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly..." (Colossians 3:16).
This is why we immerse ourselves in the Gospel of John on Sundays. We need to hear and see Jesus--we need to know the One we are following. As a result of knowing Jesus, He promises the supernatural presence and power of the Holy Spirit working in and through us!
Jesus tells His disciples in Mark 13:11, "Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit."
A time of testing is here. I've been alive for over a half-century, and things have changed dramatically in our nation and in our world during this time. We should expect persecution because Jesus divides. And we don't need to panic because we have the Holy Spirit! If God is for us, who can be against us?
Will you immerse yourself in God's Word this week? What a week to start! At times we may feel alone and discouraged, but Sunday is coming!
It's All About Jesus,
John
