The War For Your Heart
“Sir,” they said, “give us that bread every day.”
Text: John 6:22-35
Satan tempts us to pursue the temporary—to run hard after the stuff of this life. This never ends well.
The crowd following Jesus was so fixated on the temporary, that which is perishing, that they were unable to make sense of the spiritual words of Jesus. Jesus was offering so much more than daily bread. He was offering Himself.
Satan is feeding people with lies. There is a real war being waged in your mind for control of your heart. Jesus says He is the bread of life-He provides sustenance for our spiritual life as bread provides sustenance for our physical life. Sadly, No matter how many stories we hear about sin not bringing fulfillment, we still allow our appetites for those very things to control and dictate our life pursuits.
But there is hope! John tells us in 1 John 4:4: Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
I encourage you to focus your mind on Jesus today. Apply the head, heart, and hands applications to your life this week!
