LIVING SUNDAY DEVOTION
Text: Colossians 3 (verses 15-17 primary focus)
It may seem radical to us that every Christian should be prepared to teach and admonish another (Colossians 3:16) but this is God's normal plan for His people. It appears radical to us because we have drifted so far from God's norm for His church.
God calls His people to be ambassadors, to represent His message and His character in whatever situation He has placed us. WHEN OUR HEARTS AREN'T TRULY GRATEFUL FOR THE CROSS, WE WON'T TREASURE JESUS AS WE SHOULD.
The things by which we find our great pleasure is the measure of what we most treasure. DOES YOUR HEART TREASURE JESUS MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE? Honestly, where do you find your greatest pleasures in life right now? That is your treasure.
REFLECT ON THE CROSS TODAY:
If you have placed your faith in Jesus, you have been united with Christ! Christ is in you! You have the Holy Spirit!
Now, Scripture commands you to be filled with the Spirit, to let the word of Christ completely fill your heart! When we do this our life will teach! We will become more and more comfortable at admonishing each other. Our faith will be contagious.
Imagine how we would shine for Jesus and be a city on a hill (Matthew 5:14) if we all began to pursue Jesus as our greatest treasure! Our lives would burst with songs of praise! We would be so different than this spiteful and angry world. We would be grateful worshipers and givers in a world of selfish consumers.
