LIVING SUNDAY DEVOTION
Text: Colossians 2:16-23
Training in identifying counterfeit currency begins with studying genuine money. The same is true for the gospel. If you want to spot a counterfeit gospel then you need to know, study, rehearse, and share the biblical gospel. But this is not only an intellectual exercise. When a believer immerses himself in the gospel he encounters the beauty of Jesus Himself. Jesus is the gospel. Jesus is the Good News!
I continue to be amazed at the ability of the evil one to blind the eyes of people in their understanding of the gospel. The Apostle Paul clearly warned of this:
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 2 Corinthians 4:4 (NIV)
Their minds are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him. Ephesians 4:18 (NLT)
Here is my challenge to you this week: Dig into the Biblical gospel. Contemplate it. Rehearse it. Share it.
Watch THIS video and write out the gospel narrative in your own words. Think through your own personal encounter with the gospel and how your salvation experience and understanding lines up with the Bible.
Read Romans 5:1-2 in several different versions (HERE) and read THIS article. Spend time with God in prayer, reflecting upon your study.
I pray this will be an encouraging and refreshing Bible study for you!
