He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God. Psalm 40:3
- Are you completely satisfied in God today?
- Is the joy of the Lord currently overwhelming you?
- Are you experiencing a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit in your life?
Chances are, you didn't answer a resounding "Yes!" to all of these questions. Me either. But that's okay. In Psalm 40, David experienced a desperate situation. He described it as "a pit of destruction" and a "miry bog." David doesn't try and sugar coat his condition. He doesn't apologize for his struggle while in the pit.
So the song God placed in David's heart was a song David didn't earn or deserve. He could do nothing to rescue himself from this pit. So, of course, the song that God gave him was for God's glory!
What's your new song today?
Jason French writes, "Our circumstances are not our song. Jesus is." We have Jesus! Let that sink in for a minute. God has put a new song in the mouth of His children and that song is "Thank you for the cross!"
